The EDUCAUSE Top Teaching and Learning Challenges Project

Debate the list, join the community and collaborate with colleagues

Community names “Top Teaching and Learning Challenges, 2009”

After four months of spirited discussion, the EDUCAUSE teaching and learning community has voted on the, “Top Teaching and Learning Challenges, 2009.” Creating active, collaborative learning environments and developing 21st century literacies topped the list, with engaging today’s learners, encouraging faculty innovation, and advancing IT in an era of budget cuts rounding out the top five.

Now that the votes are counted, it’s time for the community to roll up its sleeves and contribute ideas from various vantage points on campus to build a network of solutions around each challenge.. You can contribute resources to the community wikis, volunteer to lead a session at future EDUCAUSE events, or pick up the phone to be a “reporter” on your campus, contributing community solutions and innovative ideas. E-mail Julie K. Little to take your place in the community process today or visit the project hompage to explore early contributions around each challenge and learn how you can get involved.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

That sounds fantastic! Community members will be formatting the wikis in the coming weeks so that we can create a place to begin sharing and posting ideas and approaches from campuses. I hope you'll add some things from Galway and encourage your European colleagues to do the same!

Sounds exciting and will be keen to see what ideas emerge. We explored some of the issues around faculty adoption and training a few years ago in a Europe wide project but have since been making progress locally and nationally using a range of approaches to training and resource availability.
