Hello!

I'm the Assistant Director for Instruction and Research at Brandeis University.

This summer we are working on our instruction program in many ways. We are establishing "modules" for teaching research skills and for using multimedia, so that when any of our subject liaisons get asked for help in supporting a student assignment, they have "pre-made" materials to draw upon. We are also creating online e-learning videos, to help maximize our presence in courses -- these 5 minute videos allow students to get the skills boost they need when they want it. Our tutorials aim at providing enough background so that students can make informed decisions -- for example, by understanding the cycle of scholarly publishing, they can understand better how to get access to information.

I'm interested in developing a pilot for freshman writing that addresses writing and communicating in a digital world - namely, a highly visual, fast-paced environment where your contribution sits in a connected network of other information. Have a syllabus to share?
